How Much Does SolarWinds NCM Cost in 2026?

Short answer. SolarWinds publishes a starting price of 754 USD for Network Configuration Manager as an Orion module, and 8 USD per node, per month for SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted, the platform NCM is now sold within. Third party software directories list NCM at 1,738 USD per month. There is no public full price list, so the real number for your estate comes from a quote.

What SolarWinds publishes

Both figures are on SolarWinds' own site, checked 13 September 2026. Neither is a full price list, and the NCM product page itself carries no price.

Node tiers

NCM is licensed by the number of nodes managed, in bands. The published tiers are DL50, DL100, DL200, DL500, DL1000, DL3000 and DLX, where DLX is unlimited. Your price is set by which band you land in, not by your exact device count, so a network of 210 devices pays the DL500 rate.

That banding is worth modelling before you buy. Crossing a band boundary by a handful of devices is a common way to find a renewal quote much larger than expected.

What third parties report

Software directories list prices SolarWinds does not publish. Two independent listings agree on the same figure:

• 1,738.00 USD flat rate per month, listed by both SoftwareAdvice and GetApp, each showing a 4.8 rating from 18 reviews.
• Resellers including CDW sell NCM by tier, for example a DL200 subscription licence renewal covering up to 200 nodes for one year.

Treat these as third party listings, not as SolarWinds list prices. They are useful for sizing, not for negotiating.

The licensing change, and why quotes are rising

The part that is not on any pricing page. Customers on the r/Solarwinds subreddit report that SolarWinds is moving its perpetual licensing model to subscription globally, and that renewal pricing is rising with it. That thread runs to more than fifty comments.

This is customer reporting, not a SolarWinds statement, and we have not found a vendor bulletin confirming it. It is consistent with what we hear from teams evaluating alternatives, and "Did SolarWinds increase its price?" now appears as a suggested question on Google's own results for SolarWinds pricing searches. If you are on a perpetual licence, the practical advice is to ask your reseller directly what your renewal looks like under the new model before you plan next year's budget.

What rConfig costs, for comparison

Different model, so compare carefully rather than line by line.

• rConfig Core is free and open source, self-hosted on Linux. No licence fee, no node limit imposed by billing.
• Commercial editions are a flat annual price by device band, with the current figures on the pricing page.

One honest caveat. rConfig is a dedicated network configuration management platform. It does config backup, change tracking, compliance and multi-vendor automation. It does not replace SolarWinds NPM, Orion monitoring, NetFlow Traffic Analyzer or Log Analyzer, so if you are licensing the wider platform for those, removing NCM alone will not remove the platform cost.
