rConfig Launches Version 8 with Vector Architecture, Distributed Collection, and Enterprise Scale to 100,000+ Devices
rConfig today released Version 8 of its network configuration and compliance management platform, introducing Vector distributed architecture for MSPs and large enterprises, expanded compliance frameworks, encrypted configuration storage, and proven performance across estates of 100,000+ devices.
rConfig, the Irish-built network configuration and compliance management platform, today released rConfig V8, the next major version of its flagship NCM platform. V8 introduces a new distributed collection architecture, an expanded compliance framework, and performance characteristics verified against estates of more than 100,000 devices.
The release closes out 14 years of iteration on the platform and sets the foundation for the next wave of work, including the in-app AI capabilities now in beta and the Vector product family that ships through the rest of the year.
What is new in V8#
- Vector Architecture. Distributed collection and multi-tenant scale for MSPs and large enterprises. Vector decouples collection from the control plane and lets a single rConfig instance reach devices across many sites, network segments, and customer perimeters without VPN gymnastics.
- Expanded compliance and security. New policy definition frameworks, encrypted configuration storage at rest, and reporting structured for the evidence trails that auditors actually ask for.
- Performance at scale. Verified against 100,000+ device estates, with materially faster search, compliance execution, and bulk operations than V7.
- Unlimited vendor support. No vendor count limits, no per-vendor licensing. If the device speaks SSH, SNMP, or HTTP, rConfig collects from it.
Where it fits#
Customers across manufacturing, energy, government, and telecom run rConfig to keep critical infrastructure compliant and resilient. V8 is aimed at the same audiences, with Vector added specifically for the operators who have outgrown a single-instance NCM and need distributed collection without the complexity of a custom build.
V8 ships in three editions:
- Core, the free open-source edition for engineers and small teams
- Pro, the commercial edition for production estates
- Vector Enterprise, the distributed edition for MSPs and global enterprises
AI roadmap#
rConfig has an in-app AI capability already in beta, aimed at change detection, anomaly surfacing, and accelerated troubleshooting. The intent is to give network teams a way to move from reactive firefighting to proactive management without bolting a third-party LLM stack onto their NCM data. More AI features are scheduled across the remainder of the year.
Zabbix Summit 2025#
rConfig is a Platinum Partner at the Zabbix Summit 2025 in Riga this October. The session at the summit covers how V8 integrates with Zabbix to deliver real-time configuration awareness alongside observability, and how the combined stack handles compliance automation at enterprise scale.
Quote#
"With V8 we set a new bar for what an NCM platform should do at scale. Customers asked for distributed collection, harder compliance evidence, and real performance against estates north of 100,000 devices. V8 delivers all three. The AI work in beta and the Vector product family coming behind it are the next chapter."
— Stephen Stack, CTO of rConfig
Availability#
rConfig V8 is available immediately in Core, Pro, and Vector Enterprise editions, with tailored offerings for MSPs and global enterprises. Full release notes, upgrade documentation, and the V8 product page are at rconfig.com/v8.
